Cool Clouds

Posted by K R on

Hi Keith,

We were flying an Airbus from SFO to Philly yesterday and when we leveled off near Mono Lake on the Nevada state line, we saw these weird "ocean wave" clouds. Turns out... they have a name: Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds. Their existence indicate an intense wind shear and one probably doesn't want to fly through them. In 30 years at the airline, I've never seen them before.
