Grand piano used on Abba’s hits goes up for auction

Posted by K R on

A grand piano which was used to compose some of the greatest hits of pop group Abba is set to be auctioned and could fetch nearly £1million.

The group's pianist Benny Andersson would sit behind the Bolin Grand in the 1970s alongside guitarist Bjorn Ulvaeus and play their most well-known hits.

Today auction house Sothebys announced that they would be selling the piano at the end of next month as part of it Rock and Pop auction in London.

Experts been given the piano an estimate of £600,000 to £800,000 and it is accompanied by a certificate of authentication signed by Mr Andersson in 2015.

If the hammer falls at £800,000, the winning bidder will end up paying a total - including taxes and premiums - of £992,000.
