Are Toxic Political Conversations Changing How We Feel about Objective Truth?

In a key moment of the final Trump-Clinton presidential debate, Donald Trump turned to a question regarding Russian president Vladimir Putin: “He has no respect for her,” Trump said, pointing at Hillary Clinton. “Putin, from everything I see, has no respect for this person.” The two debaters then drilled down to try and gain a more nuanced understanding of the difficult policy issues involved. 'Time Traveler' to Run for President and Reveal the Technology

Is it too early to announce plans to run for president in 2020 (unless you’re the incumbent)? If the candidate claimed to be a time traveler, would you be worried that he already knows what’s going to happen between now and then and is positioning himself to save (or take over) the country? They have reportedly known about this eclipse for years, just by virtue of some sort of complex math. On August 21, an eclipse will sweep across the United States, from the redwood forests of...

Trump administration assigns first political appointees to NASA

WASHINGTON — NASA Associate Administrator Robert Lightfoot formally took over as acting administrator of NASA Jan. 20 as the new Trump administration assigned two people to positions within the agency. Lightfoot, the top civil servant at NASA, told employees in an internal memo Jan. 20 that he was “filled with humility and optimism” as he temporarily assumed leadership of the agency. He took over from Charles Bolden and Dava Newman, who stepped down as administrator and deputy administrator, respectively, at the end of President Obama’s term. “To be entrusted with this incredible agency, no matter how long, is an honor,...
